Is the underlined appropriate?

It's a bad habit to start a sentence with Also if nothing came before.

Perhaps:

Studying English helps you get a promotion point.

Perhaps:

I created a study group for them to study English. That helped them get a favorable TOEIC grade.

Perhaps:

That helped prepare them for studying engineering.

Can you also say the underlined as the next lines?

That also made basic grounds to study engineering.

1.That also made basic grounding to study engineering.
2.That also made fundamental basis to study engineering.

Perhaps:

That established the groundwork for studying engineering.

I believe that's what you're trying to say.

It's my bedtime now.
