    to intentionally make someone jealous

    Hello,

Is there an idiom in English which means "to intentionally make someone jealous"?

Imagine, you are at home studying and your friend is at a party. He keeps sending you pictures to make you jealous.
Or a person is on a diet, another person keeps having delicious food in front of him to make him jealous.

In my language, there is an expression which literally translates to "make someone's heart burn" for that situation.

    Example:

I'm at home studying, but John is at a party. He keeps sending me pictures and telling me how awesome the party is. He is just trying to make my heart burn.

Is there a similar expression / idiom in English?

Re: to intentionally make someone jealous

The nearest I can think of is "green with envy". That is usually encountered as be+green with envy, e.g.
He was green with envy when he saw my Ferrari.

However, you can use "make" instead of "be", e.g.
He saw me driving my Ferrari, and that made him green with envy.

Actually the focus of the idiom is on "making" jealous and not "becoming" jealous.

Unfortunately this place is not as active as other parts of the forum.

I know of no word with that meaning.
I'm not a teacher. I speak American English. I've tutored writing at the University of Southern Maine and have done a good deal of copy editing and writing, occasionally for publication.
