Would you tell me your opinion about the interpretations of the expression in bold in the following sentences?

[FONT=&quot]He was dressed in a blue suit a good deal the worse for wear.[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot] [/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]a good deal = in a very great degree[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot] [/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]the worse for wear = in poor physical condition owing to long use [/FONT]
