Dear all:
What is the meaning of the following passage? It is from the book Anglo-Iranian relations since 1800, edited by Vanessa Martin, p. 129:
He also demanded a minimum guaranted interest of 12.5 per sent on didividends out of the shares, plus 2s per ton of oil produced.
The sentence is somehow ambiguous for me. Is 12.5 percent interest on dividends possible? Dividends is a company's profit and I think it can not have interest.
Furthermore I think 2s means 2 shillings per ton but I'm not sure.
Many thanks in advance.
