Is the indefinite article required before "professional" and should "arts" be capitalized?

I like to paint but I didn't get (a) professional education. If I had got arts education, I would have made a career in a different field.

... but I didn't get (a) professional education.
That suggests that you have had no formal education in anything!
Try:
... but I never studied art (formally).
If I'd had a formal qualification in art, had got arts education, I would have made a career in a different field.
You can also end it as follows: "... I would have chosen a different career".

Is the indefinite article required before "professional"
Yes, because the noun "education" in this sense requires it.

No. See above.

Different from art? If you mean you would have had an art-related career, then say that.

"If I had gotten an arts education, I would have made a career out of it."

I undersrand now. Would this version also be correct? "I didn't get a professional arts education."

In that case, the word "professional" has no place there.
Native speakers don't use "professional" instead of "formal," do they?

We never said that!
We tried to point out to you that in your sentence, "formal education" works better.
