1. A series of attacks have risen one after another.
2. A series of attacks has risen one after another.

Which one is correct?

I would go with the first one.
The chatgpt says it would use "has".

So, does it depend on different situations if it uses have or has?

Attacks don't rise. I don't know what ChatGPT is trying to say. What did you ask it?

So if I change it into happen, should I use have happen or has happened?

A series of attacks has/have happened.

I asked ChatGPT “A series of attacks has happened.” or “A series of attacks have happened.” Which one is correct? And it says it is has that is correct.

It depends on whether you match the verb with "series" or "attacks".
