"She's not my type. I'm into a specific kind of girl/girls."

I'm not sure if it should be 'girls' or 'girl.' My guess is that since the speaker is talking about a certain group of people, it should be plural.

Use the singular.

I'm looking for a certain type of girl.
I'm looking for a certain type of lawyer.
I'm looking for a certain type of dog.
I'm looking for a certain type of tool.

And so on and so forth.

Use the singular.

I'm looking for a certain type of girl.
I'm looking for a certain type of lawyer.
I'm looking for a certain type of dog.
I'm looking for a certain type of tool.

And so on and so forth.
Noted.
Even when talking about a certain group of people/thing, we need to use singular nouns here.

Thank you. I remember posting about 'population is/are.' I think it's the same reason we say 'population is'.
