"Let’s start in the bedroom. Imagine waking up with the powerful urge to go to the theater to see a Shakespeare play. You jump out of bed in a rush to get ready, but your path is blocked by a tiny shrew that is so tame it is jumping through hoops! This is, of course, The Taming of the Shrew."

What is the meaning of "tame" here? Does it mean "not afraid of people"?
BTW, do you think that we need the conjunction "and" as below?
...but your path is blocked by a tiny shrew that is so tame and it is jumping through hoops!
 
No, "and" is not necessary. Where did you find that text?
 
The word potentially missing between "tame" and "it" is "that". It is optional. "And" does not work there.
