Hi guys, i was wondering if there's such a word that describe an obsession towards one's own work. For example, if i were to write and publish a book that i think was the greatest book ever written, and i read it over everyday, complimenting myself on what a great job i did. Or if i was an architect and i designed a building that i think was just pure brillant, and i get the itch to look at it every so often. You guys get the point

Thanks!

I would just call that person "arrogant" though that can of course refer to things that are nothing to do with one's own work.

Please remember to capitalise the word "I" (first person singular) at all times.

An appropriate compound adjective would be "self-obsessed".

I figured the OP was looking for a different word, only because "Self-obsession" appears in the thread title.

Yes, I know, but I don't think there is any better adjective to describe what he wants.

On the same train of thought:

Self-absorbed

Haha thanks for the fast replies guys! And thanks for reminding me to capitalize "I" :)

Yes, I've thought about using the word "self-obsessed," but that is sort of too general.. I mean, one can be self-obsessed with one's own appearance (I believe there's a word but I can't recall it, maybe you guys can help me recall?), etc...

None of the words so far are specifically to do with being obsessed with one's own work and I really can't think of one.

What if he's just fulfilled by his work?

In any case, he may have delusions of grandeur.

I wonder if vainglorious could be of any help. Otherwise, it would be well worth looking for a pathology like phobia or mania

Maybe this will help: The late Steve Jobs was obsessed with his work and creation, and often spent a great deal of time admiring them. How would you guys describe this behavior?

With the words you used, if that were what I wanted to say.

I might also say that Steve Jobs was immersed in his work and engrossed by his own creations.
