I saw this phrase while I was reading The Rubaiyat, then I learned that there is a book by D. Willoughby named About it & About. I wonder what it means.

The stanza:
Myself when young did eagerly frequent
Doctor and Saint, and heard great Argument
About it and about; but evermore
Came out by the same Door as in I went.

First, I assume it doesn't mean anything in itself. Second, look for what the passage means in its entirety.

You might not fully understand what that means until you have read much farther.
