Good morning, people.

I would like to know if the use of "some" is correct in the following sentences:

Do you have some butter?
I don't think we have some milk to share. Sorry.

If not, I kindly ask you to explain why.
Thank You.

Hey, @jutfrank..

Yes, I did.
There is no context behind it. What do you think?

"Some" works in the first but not in the second. In negative contexts, we tend to use "any".

I have some milk.
I think we have some milk.
I don't have any milk.
I don't think we have any milk.

There is no context behind it. What do you think?

You can't understand the advanced uses of some by making up your own sentences. You should find some real, authentic sentences to think about. Also, they should be in context, so you can see the meaning more clearly.

Thanks, guys.
My question was just these two sentences.

There are many minutiae in English that conflict a lot with my language. That makes easy things difficult.

By the way, have a good day.

Thanks. guys. Don't refer to users here this way. Apart from being rather over-friendly, it also suggests you assume we're all male. We're not.

My question was just about these those two sentences.

There are many minutiae in English that conflict a lot with my language. That makes easy things difficult.

By the way, have a good day.
In that case:

1. Do you have some butter?
2. I don't think we have any milk to share. Sorry.

Hey, @emsr2d2 !
Your corrections are more than welcome.

I didn't know that the term 'guys' was referring only to one genre.
Ps: Is it socially wrong to use this term with a group of unfamiliar men?

Just for information, here we have very similar terms that are used interchangeably. "Hey, caras/E aí, cambada".

Of course. Another language, another way of speaking.

Thank you, my friend.
I wish you a great day.

There's nothing grammatically wrong with it. We delete posts that say Thanks because they are superfuous and I think @emsr2d2 deleted your line for the same reason.

I (personally) don't agree (with that rule). (Thanking) is a basic precept for me.

But, okay. I won't use this kind of 'superfuous' (word/phrase) anymore.
