Not only did he successfully look and act out the part of the outsider, but also provided a strong vocal interpretation which captured his changing passions and social unease.

Is it correct to say "act the part of the outsider" instead of "act out the part of the outsider"?

Who's acting the part of Hamlet?

Is it correct to say "Who's acting out the part of Hamlet?" in place of "Who's acting the part of Hamlet?"

I would say "act the part of the outsider". (I would use "act out" to describe the behavior of an unruly child.)

Say: "Who is playing the part of Hamlet?"

Abe: They landed successfully.
Bob: Does that mean they didn't crash?
Abe: Yes.
