Please would you help me and correct the mistakes in these sentences. I have tried to use the word "acumen."

1. Peter was a man with acumen that helped him in crises.
2. She was renown for her acumen that would sparkle now and then.

The first has a word missing and the second has a word that requires a suffix.

Now I have tried to correct my mistakes, although I am not sure if I have done it properly. Please would someone tell me if my sentences are correct.

1. Peter was a man with acumen that had helped him in crises.
2. She was renowned for her acumen that would sparkle now and then.

Excuse me for posting again. I am wondering if I have written the sentences above correctly. I would like to see if I have made any mistakes. Please would a teacher correct my sentences.
