Hi

I was reading this article and though I generally understand what the title "Afghan lies mirror deception of Vietnam War" means in the light of context, I still couldn't understand it structurally . In other words, what does the phrase "lies mirror deception" mean?

Please help me with it. Thank you.

Regards
Jackson

Afghan (adjective) lies (noun - subject of the verb) mirror (verb) deception (noun - direct object of the verb) of Vietnam War".

Lies about the war in Afghanistan are a mirror image of the deception that occurred during the Vietnam war.

Thanks a lot.

I see it now that I was reading it incorrectly; syntactically "Afghan lies" acts as a unit.

Best regards
Jackson

Even native speakers can sometimes understand some headlines only after they have read the report.

And that headline alone requires a bit of work to get it.
