[Grammar] Ain't, isn't or aren't?

Hi,
I wrote a poem a long time ago and am now doubting if one of the lines is correctly written, so here it goes

One thing that just ain't so is to forever let you go

Is ain't the right word or here or should it be isn't or aren't?

I really hope that you can help me with this.

You can use whatever you like in a poem. The line makes little sense, though, whichever one you use.

One important thing in poetry is meter. Many poets and song writers sacrifice perfect grammar for meter. One potential advantage of "ain't" over "isn't" is that it is one syllable.

Consider the Dylan song "It Ain't Me Babe" versus the possible song "It Isn't Me Babe".

Ain't is not a standard form, so you should only use it when you want to sound informal.
