alive/animate communication

In my language, there is an expression that is literally translated as "alive/animate/living communication", meaning that in learning a foreign language one should engage in conversations with native speakers as much as possible.

I don't know which term to use. Would "alive" work here? Thank you in advance.

No. Maybe "real life" or "real world" conversations. Not exercises from a school book, but real conversations with real people. Is that what you mean?

As a Russian I say he meant exactly it.
When we come in a cafe and speak English or Spanish with native speakers. Such conversations are really useful.
