I saw this on the Internet: All you need to do is listen.
I wonder when should we add to before the verb, such as: All you need to do is to listen carefully.

Could anyone explain this? Thanks a lot!

"to" is not necessary.

:up: And you don't even need the one after 'need'. So there are four possibilities:

• All you need do is listen carefully.
• All you need do is to listen carefully.
• All you need to do is listen carefully.
• All you need to do is to listen carefully.

The last of these sounds to me a liitle staid, but I don't think it's wrong.
