i want to know why we are using to , or without to

for example , all you need is love. all you need is a bag ? if we could use the noun , why wouldn't we using loving instead of love.

all you want is a bag. all you want is loving?

I want to know why ​sometimes we [STRIKE]are[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]using[/STRIKE] use "to" [STRIKE], or without to[/STRIKE] and sometimes we don't.

For example, "All you need is love", "All you need is a bag". If we could use the noun, why wouldn't we using "loving" instead of "love"?

1. Your title does not make sense.
2. Your first line has nothing to do with the rest of your post. The sentences you have posted have nothing to do with the word "to".
3. I don't really understand what you are asking. "A bag" is a countable noun. "Love" is an uncountable noun. Both are perfectly possible after "All you want" and "All you need".

Secondly, i've seen some examples on the internet.For example , all you have to do is , all you can do is wait.I guess wait is a verb there and why?

And i've just seen this sentence.''all you can do is pray'' how do we make a sentence like this?I mean ,''all you can do is = subject? and we use a verb in the sentence.As you said if we use a noun like this sentence , why dont we use praying as a gerund(noun) instead of verb.Thanks for helping again.

Please study the corrections emsr2d2 made to your first post, and these basic rules for written English:

- Start every sentence with a capital letter.
- End every sentence with a single appropriate punctuation mark.
- Always capitalise the word "I".

You could use all you need is to wake up, but your version doesn't work.
