I understand it in the following way:

The device provides a streamlined way to find the perfect read by allowing you to link in to Amazon’s vast multitude of books. By the word 'multitude', that would mean millions of books.

First, does "streamlined" mean "Designed or organized to give maximum efficiency; compact."?

Second, does "read" mean "book" here?
we also have phrases like "a good/exciting, etc. read" meaning "something that is enjoyable/exciting etc to read".
