Interesting. I'm familiar with "Charlie" as a street name for cocaine but I was never sure where it came from. I believe I thought it was from "Charley Farley" but I've just remembered that that was a character name in the Two Ronnies' running sketch about two detectives (Piggy Malone and his assistant Charley Farley)!

It could be- the use of Andy just suggests that the term already existed when he started DJ'ing.
