Dear teachers,

Would you tell me your opinion concerning the interpretation of the expressions in bold in the following sentence?

Everything was in apple-pie order, ready for immediate occupation.

apple-pie = perfect; exemplary: as in “put the room in apple-pie order”

occupation = dwelling, living

"Family, neighborhood, community are apple pie virtues, unassailable and unavoidable in political rhetoric"

apple pie = of, relating to, or marked by values regarded as distinctively American:

Thanks for your efforts.

Regards,

V

Vil,

You probably already know this, but just in case you don't, I

wish to let you know about the saying "You're as American as

apple pie." It is a wonderful compliment. Let's say that a person

immigrates to the States when she is very young. Let's say that

in college she tells someone that she was not born here. He might

reply: Really? That's hard to believe. You speak, dress, act, and

even think like an American. You're as American as apple pie!!!

THANK YOU
