no apple/not an apple

If someone tells me that there is an apple on the table and I go and see no apple, which would be the correct answer. The examples are mine.
1)There is no apple on the table
2)There is not an apple on the table

1) space here There is no apple on the table.
2) space here There is not an apple on the table.
They're both possible but neither is natural.

Helen: There's an apple on the table.
(Jane goes to the table and there's no apple.)
Jane: No there's not.

Can I answer "there is not" if the talk is about the uncountable.
Helen: There's some beer on the table.
(Jane goes to the table and there's no beer)
Jane: No there's not.

Jane: No there's not.
Yes, you can.
