Hi folks,

People often use an expression like "The cafe is just around the corner from my house." I don't quite understand the geographical relationship between the cafe and my house. Is it used when the cafe is in the block across from my house and it's on the corner of the block? Or could we use it even when the cafe and my house are in the same block and the cafe is located on the corner of the block?

Thanks in advance.

We also sometimes use "just round the corner" to simply mean "not very far away".
