Hi All, is it okay to say: "I am a student in the biology departemnt" or "I am a student in biology department"? Should one use the article 'the' in front of the name of a department? Thanks

Yes, you should use the article.
 
You could make life simple for yourself by saying "I'm a biology student". ;-)
