Can I say:

'I go to the cinema during a week.'

instead of

'I go to the cinema during the week.'

?

Thanks for help :)

I am not a teacher.

As it stands, no.

Why would you want to?

The article "a" doesn't work.

Does it work in 'I go to the cinema during a week when I am less busy'?

In my opinion, you need to use, here, the generic "the week" relating to the specific unit of the year after that introductory "I go to the cinema..." expressed in the present simple.

In Matthew's sentence, Only "a" works.

Thank you for giving this example. Now I know why my sentence with 'a' is not correct.
