As I thought a little bit more [mɔːr] I started to think "Who do these people think they are [ɑːr]?"
(Algorithms That Control Our Lives - with David Sumpter)

Would you be so kind as to tell me whether his accent is 'placeable' or whether it's rather some sort of amalgam?

Thanks.

He has an English accent. You've done well to notice how he pronounces the /r/ sound at the end of words, and not many regional English accents have this feature. One region that does is the West Country, and that is where I'd guess he's from.

The accent is very slight, though—it is mainly this rhotic /r/ that gives it away, I think. The only other West Country feature I can detect is how he pronounces short /i/ vowels, as in: "I started to get a little bit annoyed about it ... wait a minute ..." (4:48-4:56)

Further to post #2, I've learned from David's website (link) that he's originally from London but grew up in Scotland.

(Heaven knows how he's ended up with an accent like that!)
