Hello! I am a substitute teacher continuing my Master's studies in the area of English Lang Learn and Teach. It is difficult for a sub to conduct assessments on students because I am only one day in each class or school. I will start accepting long-term substitute positions next year, or until getting certified. How can substitute teachers learn more about assessments and tests (formative and summative)? How do I prepare myself to help students even when I'm substituting? Also, how do teachers know what level each student is at when there are many students from different language backgrounds and different levels of language skills?

Can't you simply request this information when you're substituting long-term?

Hi S.S. I was in your last class. Good luck in your future long-term subbing. Did anyone answer your questions about assessments and tests?
