It is the relative pronoun, not the relative clause, that is the subject or object.

Note my corrections above. You must start every sentence with a capital letter and end every sentence with one appropriate punctuation mark. I'm not sure what you don't understand about the third one.

Maryam's group collects trash (I think it's clear to you with this word order that "trash" is the object of "collects") and then it's taken away on bicycles.

In BrE, we happily use plural verbs with collective nouns, so the sentence is fine to us. You can use the singular too, but the plural seems to be winning.
