I'm writing a script:

Ted sits against a tree, still trying to catch his breath, when he hears the sound of twig snapping. He freezes. Then cautiously peeks back around the tree and sees a flashlight come on. About 40 yards away.

Can I write 'peeks back around the tree' here? Would you?

Can I write 'peeks back around the tree' here? Would you?

Note my corrections above. Yes, you can say that. If this is the same script you were writing when you added the thread about someone peeking over the hood of a car, then you're overusing the word "peek" (in my opinion).
