Is the second sentence correct?

1. According to a recent local survey conductedby ProActive Parents Group (PAG), 82% of parents felt strangers, sexual predators and kidnappers as the greatest safety concerns. However, parents and caregivers need to know that their children are most likely to be harmed by someone they know than by a stranger.

2. According to a recent local survey conducted by ProActive Parents Group (PAG), 82% of parents felt strangers, sexual predators and kidnappers as the greatest safety concerns. Besides, parents and caregivers need to know that their children are most likely to be harmed by someone they know than by a stranger.

However is fine.

"Besides" is normally used to provide more information to support the first idea so it's not the best word to use here.
