Is it correct that if I use "between" as a preposition of position we use objective " The toy is between us", but when between is used figuratively ,we use reflexive "The secret is between ourselves"

Let's keep this between ourselves, okay?
Between you and me, I really can't stand her.
We must promise never to let this come between us.

The first two examples are both about secrets and the third is about figurative not literal space.

It is accurate to say "We put the book between us"?

It's an awful example (why would anybody ever say that?) but yes, it's grammatical, if that's what's you mean by 'accurate'.
