I am emailing my professor to see if he read my previous email.

1. I was wondering if you have had a chance to look at my e-mail?

2. I was wondering if you have read my my e-mail by any chance?

Which one is correct in a polite and formal way?

Is there a better way to write it out?

I wouldn't use a question mark.

'I was wondering if ...' doesn't preface a question.

If you want to use "by any chance", put it in the middle.

I'm wondering if, by any chance, you have read my email.
I was wondering if, by any chance, you had read my email.

It's better without "by any chance", to me anyway. Including that phrase can make it sound a little hostile.
