Hello!

I'd like to know how we use cabinets and cupboards in everyday speech.
For example, is it always cabinets in the kitchen, like wall cabinets and base cabinets? Can we have cupboards instead of cabinets in the kitchen?
What about the office? What's the difference between an office cabinet and an office cupboard? And why do we even have CUPboards in the office when they have nothing to do with cups and usually store paper?
Do we usually have cupboards or cabinets in the bathroom? What about the living room?

Thank you very much.

Answers will vary wildly on this.

I would only use "cupboard" in the kitchen. Which would include a kitchen in an office.

Cabinet can be used for any enclosed space. What most people have in their kitchens are enclosed boxes with doors, which makes them cabinets. Even if they refer to them as cupboards.
