What does "cagey" mean in this context?

The first half was cagey. City made the running, as ever, and dominated possession, but Juventus were happy with that, forcing them wide and were only undone once.

The first half was "cagey" which means both team were playing cautiously and neither team was fully expressing themselves.

@severussnape0x welcome to the forum.đź‘‹

You're welcome to reply to threads and offer your input, but please be sure and clarify that you're not a
teacher.

It's easiest to put that disclaimer in your signature, so that you don't have to manually add it each time. It appears you've been notified of this previously, here. I have added it this time.

Just a question, I've seen several people posting links without any removal/censoring. Why I'm the only one get the warning?

You have been treated exactly as any other member would be. Do not post links to commercial sites. If you persist in posting such links disciplinary action will escalate.

As probus said, you're not the only one. We don't allow links to commercial (paid) sites. If you think you've found a link we should have removed, please feel free to post a link to the relevant post and we'll take a look.

What do you mean by "How about ..."?

Onelook.com is a language site that we often recommend to ESL learners. The link you posted has been deleted but presumably was not similar to onelook.com.

I'm new to the forum and I'm still figuring things out. I see a lot of links being shared, and I'm curious if there are any particular criteria for which websites are appropriate to link to here? I've been assuming that any link that answers the question is generally okay, but I'd appreciate some clarification. Could you also elaborate on this 'was not similar to onelook.com'? How do you define "similar" or not?

Normally we can see the history of edited posts, but in this case the history has somehow been deleted so I cannot see the link you had posted. However, the moderator who deleted the link said it was to a commercial site, and links to non-ESL/EFL sites are not allowed.

P.S. to the webmaster: @Red5 can you tell how the thread's history was deleted?

The confusion here has been caused by the fact that severussnape0x is referring to an edit made in a completely different thread. See HERE. A link was removed in that thread and there is already a discussion going on there explaining why. There have been no links removed in this thread at all.
@severussnape0x Please don't add any more comments about link removal to this thread. Attention is being drawn away from the OP's actual question.

Thanks @emsr2d2. (Thank button not working).

It did work. You'll see the "Thanks" icon at the bottom of my post. The current glitch makes it look as if reactions aren't working but once you refresh the page, the error message vanishes and the reaction appears.
