My friend and me we have similar backgrounds and similar stories.

VS

Him and I we pretty much have similar stories.

What is I add a before similar than it must be story. Right?

Are both okay?

"My friend and I"

"He and I"

My friend and I we have similar backgrounds and similar stories.

VS

He and I we pretty much have similar stories.

Grammatical now?

You should use a comma if you are going to "double up" on the subject. I wouldn't use this in formal writing.

Nevermind. I think I got it:

My friend and me have similar backgrounds and similar stories.

VS

Him and I pretty much have similar stories.

Better?

My friend and me, we have similar backgrounds and similar stories.

VS

Him and I pretty, we pretty much have similar stories.

What about now?

My friend and I have similar backgrounds. :tick:
We have similar backgrounds. :tick:

My friend and I, we have similar backgrounds. <---- this is not good for formal writing, but it works as conversation.

What about:

My friend and I have similar stories.

VS

My friend and I pretty much have the same story/stories.
