Hi everyone,

Is this sentence correct?

"I can't get over why he did it." (meaning I can't understand)

Thank you.

It's more likely to be definition #4 here.

'Get over' does not mean 'understand.

Thank you for you reply.
Could you please let me know if this sentence makes any sense to you at all then?
"I can't get over why he did it." (paraphrase "I am surprised/shocked why he did it")
Will my paraphrase be correct in this situation?
And how about this sentence:
"I can't get over with how she manages to get away with doing so little work."
"Can't get over" in this situation as I understand has the meaning of (am surprised, shocked).
Please correct me if I am wrong.
Thank you.

"I can't get over with how she manages to get away with doing so little work."

I'd say I can't get over how she manages.... They both work with the surprised/shocked meaning, as long as it is the reason and not what he did that shocked you.
