Dear teachers,
I have tried to find it several times but my sources contradict each other. In the following sentence:
A red Vauxhall turned into Jones Street.

Is it correct to use here a capital letter or should I rather write 'vauxhall'.
I'll be really grateful for your help.

***NOT A TEACHER***Does "Vauxhall" refer to a make (brand) of car? We Americans would certainly capitalize all car makes: A red Ford turned ....He bought a new Honda.

Yes Vauxhall = Opel in UK.
I'm asking because in Poland we either capitalize make names or not, for example, when we refer to a whole make we use capital letters (generic use):
My friend told me an Opel is a good solution.
But, when someone is driving a specific car we don't capitalize:
My friend was driving a white opel.

Do you always capitalize it or do you have similar distinction as in Poland?

***NOT A TEACHER***I'm 99% sure that Americans would never write: My friend was driving a white ford....a black cadillac.

(Not a teacher)

I would say it is always capitalised. The company name, and also the brand/model name. For example, "He drives a white Vauxhall Astra."

Thank you very much, those differences among languages are terrible.
