Hello.

Which one is correct?

1. The watering methods used in agriculture must be transformed. Doing so would be very costly, but that would be money well-spent.

Remove the hyphen. Well-spent money is money well spent. The former is a compound adjective; the latter is an adverb modifying an adjective.

I think "spent" is an adjective modifying "money". Don't take my word for it, though, as I often get these things wrong.

When a compound adjective appears before its noun, it should be hyphenated. When it appears after its noun, it should not be hyphenated.

This is well-spent money. (hyphenated)
This is money well spent. (not hyphenated)

She is a part-time employee.
She is an employee who works part time.
