In Greek the version of the proverb Children and fools tell the truth is From a child and a crazy man or (madman) you learn the truth.
What is the literal and what is the metaphorical translation of the proverb Children and fools tell the truth in English?

Welcome to the forum. :hi:

Please note my added punctuation above. It's important to mark out the words/phrases/sentences you are asking us about in some way. For quotes like proverbs, put them in quotation marks.

I've never heard that proverb. I see from a quick Google search that it's an American English proverb, which is probably why I'm not familiar with it. What do you not understand about it?
