Collocation or Compund noun?

Hello!

Is the term "heavy smoker" a compound noun, a collocation, or both.

Thank you.
 
I'd say more a collocation than a compound noun- it's just an adjective that commonly modifies that noun, but there are other possibilities, and it seems to be less of a compound than chain smoker/chain-smoker/chainsmoker.
