Dear Teachers

Should I use "come" or "coming" in the following sentence?

Earlier, a senior school administrator warned me and other senior level academics that we might face a 10 percent pay cut come/coming September 2012 (the beginning of a new school year) because we are making too much money. Life is full of ironies, isn’t it?

Or 'this coming September'.

Or 'in September, 2012'.

Hi Davd, Rover and 5jj, it sounds correct to me using "in" and "this coming", but for "come", isnt it a verb? So need a subject?

Regards

'Come September' is a set phrase meaning 'When September comes'.

It's just one of those things.

Rover

Agreed with Rover - you can use "come xxx" with months and seasons, as in

"Come springtime, this field will be covered in flowers."
