Hi,

Is this sentence grammatically correct?

Companies have to be urged to move to the countryside.

How about the following sentences:

1. "It should be urged that companies move to the countryside."
2. "There should be an urge that companies should move to the countryside."
3. "There should be an urge for companies to move to the countryside."
4. "The companies should be urged into moving to the countryside."

The sentence in your title is grammatical and moderately natural.

The other four are not natural.

Can I conclude that verbs such as 'urge', 'demand', and those other ones commonly used in a SUBJUNCTIVE mode cannot be used in a passive voice?

Please don't put a sentence you want us to look at only in the title. Use it as the title and then put it in the main body of the post too. I have edited post #1 accordingly.
