She wrote a composition entitied, "My ambition".

Is a comma needed after "entitled"?

Thanks.

No, and you spelt 'entitled' wrong twice.

(For once, I disagree with bhai.)

You would need a comma if the sentence is written:

She wrote a composition, "My Ambition".

It used to be needed. I probably wouldn't use one these days, since the sentence flows normally. I'd use a comma in, "This sentence contains a comma".

I would use a comma in neither the original sentence nor the example in post #6.

A comma would be necessary if I removed 'entitled'.

And you spelled "spelled" wrong once! Unless you're talking about this stuff:

I know, I know. British English is funny. I just got a copy of Cambridge Grammar of English out of the library. I've only flipped through a few pages so far, and my mind is already blown. Apparently, "cos" is a word! And "gonna"! Who knew?

So - spelt, it is!

I realise that a comma is also not required when used with a restrictive clause. Putting the comma means that was the only composition she wrote, but she could have written more.

She wrote a composition "My Ambition". (There are other compositions she has written)
She wrote a composition, "My Ambition". (That is the only composition she wrote)

The phrase," composition entitled "The Ambition"", is read as a single item, so the comma should not be there.

Dropping the comma in appostional phrases seems to be growing in popularity, and what once would have looked strange looks perfectly normal to me.
