Hi guys

Can anyone tell me what this sentence mean?

"She woke, crying into her pillow in that peculiar condensed way of dreams."
I googled and googled but still couldn't understand what "in that peculiar condensed way of dreams" means.
Does anyone have a clue?

Thanks.

I read it in a novel.
The woman was having a nightmare, and then she woke up from the dream, and then that sentence just showed up.

So it's not a common phrase?

It's not a common phrase. What was the novel and who wrote it?

I'd guess that she means that dreams make you cry in a different way- fewer tears, but more concentrated in terms of emotion.
