Is there any difference between these two :

If Bob were to have a chance of success, he wolud need to move to london.

If Bob had a chance of success, he wolud need to move to london.

Are you trying to say that Bob's chances of success are conditional on his moving to London? If so, try: "If Bob is to have a chance of success, he will need to move to London".
