What does "cornering G's" mean in the following? And what does "G" stand for?

Furthermore, their unique design gives the cars an explosion of additional lifestyle enriching qualities within the supercar market:


1. Best power-to-weight ratio.
2. Shortest braking distance.
3. Highest cornering G's.

I don't know a lot about cars but I guess it has something to do with the "G force" created when the car goes round a corner. However, that's a guess based on simply the fact that I enjoy watching Top Gear.
