hii,
Is this dedication good? Any mistakes? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance ^^

Dedication

To my dear parents,

As a token of my gratitude for the support, sacrifices and every effort
they have done for my education and formation.

To my brothers,

For their (affectation) affection, compréhension
and patience.
To my friends and all those who have a relationship of close or far
with the realization of this project.

I dedicate this work

Hello, Ucef.

(1) Of course, I will let the great teachers here check your dedication.

(2) But I just had to tell you to immediately erase "affectation."

English readers would laugh if they see this word. It is insulting to

your brothers, too. It means something (something!!!) like NOT being

sincere or honest. Were you thinking of "affection"?

Sincerely,

James

Hello, Ucef:

(1) While we are waiting for a language professional to

check the complete dedication, may I make one other

suggestion? (I know how much a dedication means to you.)

(2) I suspect that "comprehension" is the correct word in

French or Spanish, but I do not think it is what you are looking for

in English. I think that "comprehension" in English usually refers

to, say, a comprehension of English grammar.

(a) I most respectfully suggest the word understanding.

Sincerely,

James

Of course, your suggestions are highly appreciated :) It is what I suggested too. In fact, I have written understanding and replaced it with comprehension. Thank you

Ucef,

(1) First, congratulations!!! I have learned from one of your other

threads that you are graduating. I wish you the very best in

your chosen field.

(2) In English, we have a verb "to nitpick." That means something like to

criticize someone for every little mistake. If a teacher always

nitpicks, his/her students soon lose confidence and often lose interest.

(3) Well, I do not want to nitpick. But I know what a serious student

that you are, and I know that you want to speak the best English

possible. So may I please discuss your note to me?

(4) Maybe your note should be something like:

In fact, I had first written "understanding" and then changed it

to "comprehension."

(a) I do not like to nitpick. The only reason that I am discussing it

is that I feel that you wanted to know. I know that you want to

use the clearest English possible when you write (business?)

letters in the future.

The best of luck to you.
