From Wikipedia: "Liberalism is a political and moral philosophy based on liberty, consent of the governed and equality before the law."

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liber...s a political and,and equality before the law.

Based on the above quote, can these sentences be true and natural English?

1. Liberalism defends liberty and equality.

2. Liberalism supports liberty and equality.

3. Liberalism upholds liberty and equality.

They don't work because they attribute activities to a doctrine. It's people who defend, support, or uphold things.

The philosophy of liberalism (thought out by people) is about liberty and equality. By itself, it doesn't do anything.

They are all wrong because of subject/verb disagreement.

What's your aim here, hhtt21? Are you just trying to practise using those three verbs? If so, why are you using the same sentence for all three?

Yes, I want to both practice using those verbs and try to say the proper sentence about either liberalism or liberalists. I want to understand which verbs fit and which ones do not.

Well, they're not great examples because liberals (not liberalists) don't necessarily do any of those things. Being a liberal really just means that you have certain values.

The problem you have, in my opinion, is that you're trying to come up with your own examples when you don't have a clear idea of what you mean. What I suggest is that you take each verb one at a time, and find several excellent examples of use. Don't make up your own.
