Moral issues generally don't define people. I wouldn't know how to answer that either.

That's the same question basically. You seem to understand it. What does it mean? Can you give an example?

No, not necessarily. There is not a specified numbers of moral issues to choose from. If there were, you'd use "which".
As another example, you can say, "What country are you from?" If there were a choice of three or four possible countries, you'd be more likely to say "Which country are you from?"

I agree- it's a very strange question. I suppose they want an answer about what the person thinks is the most important moral issue, though why this should define them is beyond me.

There are plenty of people who don't really care about any moral issues so they would be unable to answer that question (even if it made sense).
