The Britannica Dictionary lists three word classes for "this": pronoun, adjective, and adverb.

Longman Contemporary lists: determiner, pronoun, and adverb.

The Britannica Dictionary is the former Merriam-Webster Learner's Dictionary.

Determiner isn't a British only term. Determiner is more of an umbrella term for article, possessive (adjective), etc.

: a word (such as “a,” “the,” “some,” “any,” “my,” or “your”) that comes before a noun and is used to show which thing is being referred to
